  •  After the Army in college, Mark had a very serious motorcycle accident putting him in a wheelchair for months. After 1 year’s rehab he tried a Triathlon as a rehab goal and beat over half the entrants in his first race. He was hooked!
  • Over the next 15 years, many different states and 100 Triathlons later,

including many half Ironmans and the Inaugural Ironman Wisconsin Triathlon, he started doing Off-road Triathlons and Xterras. Mark always placed well up in his age class including winning a few age groups at these.

  • During a few Odyssey Adventure Xterras, he was introduced to Adventure Racing by Don Mann. Mark volunteered at the “Beast of the East” and was hooked again. Over the last 16 years, Mark has competed in over 90 Adventure Races from Sprints to many one and two day AR and even some Expedition length races
  • He has competed as a soloist, two-man team, three person co-ed and full four person co-ed. In 2005, as a soloist, he was the 2nd place soloist finisher in the 30 hr OAR Endorphin Fix. As Capt of Team Three’s Company he led them to first place in the HR Adventure TASC AR. In 2006, he led Team Fantastic Four to First Place in the 1st HR Adventure 18 hr STORM Stage AR and 1st place in the 60-hr PHEAR Expedition AR. As a member of Team Sutliff Hummer, they finished 39th out of 90 teams in the 2006 Primal Quest Utah. • Recent years has had him teaching Navigation and AR Clinics, teaching Navigation at Seal Adventure Challenge, Designing “Diet” AR practice courses for new racers to practice on as well as actual AR courses for HRA, Boy Scouts and Soggy Bottom Boys Racing. With much help from many of you fellow volunteers out there, he puts on annual Scouting Orienteering Navigation and Adventure Races. Add in to all this racing in multiple team formats in local and regional AR races and Navigation Rogaines. Mark loves volunteering and sharing all he has learned with anyone looking to learn. He also loves racing with 1st time AR racers to help them make that 1st big step.
  • Nuff about me, let’s go out there and play!
