2017 Summer Solstice 8-Hour Adventure Race

8 Hour Standard Course Info
For any of you who are newer to Adventure Racing or are not yet quite ready for a full 12 hr of racing, SBB Racing has put together a smaller version of the 12-hr course for you, racing alongside all of the 12-hr folks. You’ll start 4 hr into the 12 hr race course and complete the remaining course together, finishing right alongside everyone else. Come join us for the second race in our 2017 race season!

The 8 hr Standard Course features the same CPs throughout the course as the 12-hr course, just starting 4 hrs into the race. On Sat June 17th, 2017 8-hr teams will take off to race on the longest weekend of the year, so you’re guaranteed to have light for the full 8 hrs. The Summer Solstice joins the SPROUTE and the STORM as a USARA Points Qualifier race. The 8-hr race is complete with Mtn Biking mostly on roads, a shorter Paddle-O section, both wooded and Urban Orienteering (ala’ Amazing Race style) as well as a little history lesson all along the way. The race as always will feature Cash Prizes or Free Race Entry for top finisher Team(s), lots of SWAG raffle prizes for everyone, a Summer Picnic Cookout style post-race food, and FREE post-race massages for all (What a way to finish a race)! Where can you get this much racing, food, massages, prizes and more for only a $100 bucks? If you’d like help locating a teammate, we are here to help you, just ask!

As this is a USARA Qualifier race, during packet pickup all team members must be present, all forms must be completed for each team member, and Insurance fees must be paid for USARA membership. USARA forms will be available at Registration for all team members. USARA fees of $8 for a one-day race membership, $35 for yearly membership, or proof of USARA membership are required and can be paid at packet pickup.

Boat Drop & Rentals

There will be a Boat Drop on race morning located 20 min from the Start. Kayaks are highly suggested for the course, but not required. GREAT NEWS! We have now connected with an Outfitter who can provide & deliver boats for the race. If you are interested in renting a boat, email Mark Montague at mark@sbbracing.com and ask to be connected to the Outfitter.

Adventure Racing cannot go on w/o a great Volunteer staff. If any racer’s friends or family members are interested in volunteering while you race, please fill out the Volunteer Form and send to mark@sbbracing.com. They can work as little or as much as they would like. You will earn valuable discounts on Race Entry for future SBB Racing races that they can use or gift to anyone they choose.

  • 9:45 AM – Race Packet Pickup Opens
  • 10:15 AM – Team Pre-Race Brief & Prologue Info (Mandatory)
  • 10:45 AM – Teams load busses
  • 11:30 PM – Race START
  • 6:30 PM-8:00 PM – Post-race food and awards ceremony
