For all of you who have been training and racing all spring and are peaked for your strongest race of the year so far, SBB Racing invites you to an Epic race Mountains course designed just for you to start off your summer of racing. The 2019 Massanutten Massacre Adventure Race will continue in a long-standing history of Summer Solstice Adventure Races. It is also a USARA Regional Points Qualifying Race for the 2019 season.

On June 22nd, 2019, join your fellow AR Racers for 26 hours of AR heaven, separated by Treks in the woods, swift paddles down a beautiful river, a few surprises along the way and incredible views as you bike all around and up and over the Massanutten Mountains including a couple sweet Single track sections along the way. Daytime and Nighttime Orienteering throughout.

Your race entry also includes FREE Canoe Rental, FREE overnight camping spots before &/or after the race and a FREE post-race massage for all. The 26-hr MM race is a USARA Regional Qualifier for $$ and points and as always will feature Cash Prizes or Free Race Entry for top finisher Team(s), lots of SWAG raffle prizes. Complete the race to a hot home-made real food meal prepared and waiting for you right at the Finish by our chefs. If you enjoy a Navigation-heavy AR race, this is the race for you. If you wanted to do the Shenandoah Tough, but couldn’t commit to 3 whole days, this race is for you. If you plan one big AR race in 2019, you don’t want to miss this one.

As this is a USARA Regional Qualifier race, during packet pickup all team members must be present, all forms must be completed for each team member, and Insurance fees must be paid for USARA membership. USARA forms will be available at Registration for all team members. USARA fees of $8 for a one-day race membership, $35 for yearly membership, or proof of USARA membership are required and can be paid at packet pickup.

Boats Rentals

Boat Rental Fees are included with your Registration Fee. Canoes are for 2-person or 3-person teams. 4-person teams will received 2 canoes. Soloists will use a solo kayak.


ALL racers race entry includes a FREE Camping spot the night before and the night after the race at the Start/Finish  (Group Camping Area). There are a number of hotels available w/in 20-30 min of race Start location. A map of the general area for lodging will be sent out to all Registered Racers in March 2019.


Adventure Racing cannot go on w/o a great Volunteer staff. If any racer’s friends or family members are interested in volunteering while you race, please fill out the Volunteer Form on the website (Under “ABOUT” tab) and send to mark@sbbracing.com. They can work as little or as much as they would like. You will earn valuable discounts on Race Entry for future SBB Racing races that they can use or gift to anyone they choose. If they work the entire race, they earn a 50% paid race entry in any of our 2019 AR races.


26 Hour Course (ESTIMATED):

  • 5:45 AM – Bike Drop Opens
  • 6:15 AM – Race Packet Pickup Opens
  • 6:45 AM – Team Pre-race Brief & Questions
  • 7:15 AM – Team Captains Final Brief & Prologue Info (Mandatory)
  • 7:30 AM – Race START
  • 9:30 AM-11:30 AM – Post-race Brunch and awards ceremony

26 Hr Capt. Comm Letter

Capt. Comm Letter will be sent to each Team Capt. approximately May 1st with detailed Race info.
